It's the 21st year of the
Nebraska Coast Connection. And the Salons have been going
strong for 18 years -- we haven't missed a single Second
Monday since The Hollywood Salon began in June of 1995.

Alexander Payne taking "Nebraska" to Cannes! |
Nebraska's own Alexander Payne will be premiering his new film "Nebraska"
at the Cannes Film Festival in May! The movie, starring Bruce Dern & Will
Forte, was shot in northeastern Nebraska last fall.

Dan Mirvish, director of | | In June, we welcome back Dan Mirvish, previewing his latest film. We'll also
hear from Todd Nelson about the premiere of Alexander Payne's film, "Nebraska"
at Cannes. And we'll sneak the new music video Ryan Tweedy made for his
documentary about Nebraskans.
An Omaha native and original NCCer, Dan Mirvish is an active director,
screenwriter, producer and author. His most recent work is "Between Us"
, an award-winning feature film starring Julia Stiles and Taye
Diggs, that's played at 21 festivals in 7 countries, and is getting a theatrical
release this summer.
Dan was mentored by Robert Altman on his first film, “Omaha (the
movie)”, which led him to co-founding the upstart Slamdance Film Festival
that runs concurrent with Sundance. His film “Open House” led the
Academy Awards to controversially rewrite their rules on the Best Original
Musical category. Mirvish also co-wrote the critically-acclaimed novel “I Am
Martin Eisenstadt” based on the fake McCain advisor who took credit for
Sarah Palin not knowing Africa was a continent.
"Between Us" is a darkly comedic drama in which two couples reunite over two
incendiary evenings where anything can happen. Grace and Carlo are a newly
married New York couple who visit their old friends Sharyl and Joel in their huge
Midwestern home. Despite their wealth, the hosts are in a bitterly destructive
marriage. A few years later, the couples reunite in New York, but the tables are
turned as the young couple struggles with parenthood and finances, only to
discover their old friends even more successful and much happier than before.
